Thank you for visiting SendRach2Oz.com. My name is Rachel Vest and I'm a Freshman at Hot Springs High School in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. I'm excited to say that I've been accepted into People To People's Student Ambassador program. I'll be joining several local teachers and about 40 other Student Ambassadors, all high school students from Southern New Mexico and South Carolina, on a trip to Australia June 6-25, 2010.

People ask me how I was chosen for this program. It all started with an anonymous recommendation. I then received an invitation letter and attended an informational meeting with my mom to learn about the program. We registered and got set up for an interview. I then acquired a total of five additional recommendations from my current teachers and coaches. Within a day of interviewing with the Delegate Leader, a teacher from Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico, I received notification of my acceptance into the program.

I'm very excited about this trip as it's quite a rare opportunity, especially considering my rural location and small school district - this kind of thing just doesn't happen to everyone. In fact, while People To People sends thousands of American Jr. High and High School students on trips around the world each year, there is only one People To People Alumnus from my High School in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. One. Happily, I'll make two!

My mom's dear friend Reyna Wilcox has our thanks for volunteering her time and expertise to set up this website in order to inform people of my extraordinary opportunity as well as to request donations toward my tuition.
